What you can do
- Create documents: build a document from a PandaDoc template, from markdown content, or from a PDF/DOCX file URL
- Send for signature: send a draft to its recipients with a custom subject and message, control email notifications, and set forwarding and approval options
- Manage recipients: add CC recipients, edit a recipient’s details, reassign a signer to another contact, or remove a recipient
- Track status and history: check document status, retrieve the full audit trail, and manually mark a document Completed, Paid, Expired, or Declined
- Find and read documents: list with status, folder, tag, sorting and date-range filters, full-text search, and pull content, details, summaries, or metadata (single or batched across up to 40 documents)
- Work with templates: list templates, inspect a template’s roles, fields, tokens and pricing tables, or create a new template from a PDF URL

pandadocmcp_documents_metadata_batch_getRetrieve metadata for 1-40 documents in one request.Read-onlyDocuments Metadata Batch Get
Retrieve metadata for 1-40 documents in one request. Preferred over calling Get Document Metadata in a loop; a failure for one document does not fail the batch.
Inputs
document_idsarrayrequired- 1-40 document IDs to fetch metadata for. Duplicates are rejected by the server.
field_keysstring- Optional case-sensitive filter on metadata field `key` (the human-readable name returned as `results[].key` by the single-document endpoint, e.g. `Contract value`). Unknown keys are silently ignored. When omitted, every populated field is returned per document.

pandadocmcp_contacts_createCreate a contact in the workspace address book from an email address, and return it with its `id`, the contact id that `recipients_add_cc` and `recipients_reassign` take.WriteContacts Create
Create a contact in the workspace address book from an email address, and return it with its `id`, the contact id that `recipients_add_cc` and `recipients_reassign` take. The contact stays in the workspace address book after this call, so confirm the address with the user before calling. `contacts_list` resolves an address the workspace already knows; call this only when it returns no contact.
Inputs
emailstringrequired- Full email address of the contact to create, e.g. 'jane.smith@example.com'.
companystring- Company.
first_namestring- First name.
job_titlestring- Job title.
last_namestring- Last name.
phonestring- Phone number.
pandadocmcp_contacts_listResolve an email address to the contact it belongs to.WriteContacts List
Resolve an email address to the contact it belongs to. Use it to get the `contact_id` that `recipients_add_cc` needs, or the `new_contact_id` that `recipients_reassign` needs. For someone already on the document, skip this lookup: `documents_details_get` returns `contact_id` on each recipient alongside the recipient's own `id`. The match is on the full email address and nothing else: there is no search by name, by company, or by part of an address. When the user names a person without an email, ask for the email rather than guessing one. Returns no contact when the workspace address book holds none for that address; use `contacts_create` to add one.
Inputs
emailstringrequired- Full email address of the contact, e.g. 'jane.smith@example.com'. Matched exactly.
pandadocmcp_contacts_searchSearch the current workspace's contacts by first name, last name, or company.WriteContacts Search
Search the current workspace's contacts by first name, last name, or company. This tool does not search by email address; use contacts_list for an email address instead. Results can contain several contacts with the same name, so confirm which contact the user means before making a change. To add a returned contact as a CC, pass its id to recipients_add_cc as contact_id. To replace a signer with a returned contact, pass its id to recipients_reassign as new_contact_id.
Inputs
querystringrequired- First name, last name, company, or a combination to search for.
pageinteger- One-based page number.default
1 page_sizeinteger- Maximum number of contacts to return on this page.default
30
pandadocmcp_documents_createCreate a document from a template, markdown content, or a PDF/DOCX file URL.WriteDocuments Create
Create a document from a template, markdown content, or a PDF/DOCX file URL. Pass a single 'request' object whose 'source' selects the creation mode; each source accepts only its own parameters. Creation is asynchronous - poll Get Document Status until the document is Draft or Error. IMPORTANT for pricing_tables: row/column field names (e.g. 'name', 'price', 'qty') are defined per-template, not fixed globally. Before populating pricing_tables, call templates_details_get on the target template_uuid and read the real column names from its pricing.tables[].items[] / merged_data - do not guess casing or names from examples.
Inputs
requeststringrequired- Document to create. Set `source` to `template` (create from a PandaDoc template), `markdown` (create from markdown content), or `file` (create from a PDF/DOCX file URL). Each source accepts only its own parameters.
pandadocmcp_documents_fields_assignAssign, reassign, or unassign document fields to recipients.WriteDocuments Fields Assign
Assign, reassign, or unassign document fields to recipients. Document must be in draft status.
- Idempotent
Inputs
assignmentsarrayrequired- List of field-to-recipient assignments. Each item maps a field UUID to a recipient UUID (or null to unassign).
document_idstringrequired- Document ID
pandadocmcp_documents_linkAssociate a document with a CRM object such as a HubSpot deal, so the document appears in that CRM record.WriteDocuments Link
Associate a document with a CRM object such as a HubSpot deal, so the document appears in that CRM record. Works on a document in any status. `provider` and `entity_type` identify the CRM object. Common pairs: `hubspot` with `deal`; `salesforce-oauth2` (or `salesforce-oauth2-sandbox`) with `opportunity`, `lead`, `account`, or `contact`; `pipedrive` with `deal`, `organization`, or `person`; `ms-dynamics` with `opportunity`, `lead`, `contact`, `quote`, or `competitor`. `entity_id` is the object's id in that CRM (for HubSpot, the deal id). The CRM integration must be connected in the workspace. A document can be linked to several CRM objects with separate calls.
Inputs
document_idstringrequired- Document UUID
entity_idstringrequired- CRM object id, e.g. the HubSpot deal id.
entity_typestringrequired- CRM object type, e.g. 'deal'.
providerstringrequired- CRM provider, e.g. 'hubspot'.
pandadocmcp_documents_reminder_sendSend a reminder to recipients of a document that is out for signature, so the ones who have not completed their part are prompted again.WriteDocuments Reminder Send
Send a reminder to recipients of a document that is out for signature, so the ones who have not completed their part are prompted again. The document must be in Sent or Viewed status. Reminders reach real people by email and/or SMS, so confirm with the user which recipients to remind before calling. Take recipient ids from the document's details; recipients left out of the call are not reminded. To word the email yourself, pass subject and message at the top level of the call â they apply to every recipient in it. This call can succeed as a call and still deliver nothing: it always answers with one entry per requested recipient, carrying a status for both email and SMS. Report a reminder as sent only where that status is `sent`. Where a method you requested has any other status, name the recipient, the method and the reason from `detail`, and do not call the request successful. A method you did not request always reports `error` with "delivery method is not selected" â that is expected, not a failure, and must not be mentioned to the user.
Inputs
document_idstringrequired- Id of the document whose recipients should be reminded.
remindersarrayrequired- The recipients to remind, one entry each.
messagestring- Body of the reminder email, in Markdown, applied to every recipient in this call. Set this when the user dictates the wording ("text SIGN IT"). Ignored by SMS; the account default is used when omitted.
subjectstring- Subject line for the reminder email, applied to every recipient in this call. Set this when the user dictates a subject ("subject ASAP"). Ignored by SMS; the account default is used when omitted.
pandadocmcp_documents_sendSend a draft document to recipients for review and signature with optional message, subject, and CC settings.WriteDocuments Send
Send a draft document to recipients for review and signature with optional message, subject, and CC settings.
Inputs
document_idstringrequired- Document ID
forwarding_settingsstring- Settings for document and signature forwarding. Controls whether recipients can forward the document or reassign their fields to another person.
messagestring- A message that will be sent by email with a link to the document to sign.
reply_tostring- Email address used as reply-to for the document. Must be enabled for the account by support.
selected_approversstring- Configuration for selecting approvers from approval workflow groups. Copy 'steps' from the 'approval_execution' section of Document Details and set 'is_selected' to true for the desired approver.
senderstring- Set a sender of a document as an email or membership_id.
silentstring- If true, disables email notifications for document recipients and the sender. Also disables scheduled reminders. Does not affect 'Approve document' email notification.
skip_unfilled_variablesboolean- Must be false by default. Only set to true when the user has explicitly chosen to send with empty variables.default
false subjectstring- Value that will be used as the email subject.
pandadocmcp_documents_updateUpdate a draft document — name, recipients, fields, tokens, images, pricing tables, and metadata.WriteDocuments Update
Update a draft document — name, recipients, fields, tokens, images, pricing tables, and metadata. Document must be in draft status.
Inputs
document_idstringrequired- Document ID
fieldsstring- Document fields as key-value pairs
imagesstring- Images
namestring- Document name
pricing_tablesstring- Pricing tables to populate by name. For a table whose ``templates_details_get`` details report ``data_merge_enabled: true``, send the ``data_merge: true`` variant instead, with row values keyed by the table's ``merge_name`` column names.
recipientsstring- Replaces the entire recipient list. Read `documents_details_get` first so the recipients that stay are kept. A recipient with no `role` is added as CC. This is the only way to add a signer or CC by email to a draft document.
tablesstring- Tables to populate by name
tagsstring- Document tags
textsstring- List of text blocks to update. Each item should have 'name' and 'data' fields
tokensstring- Document tokens (variables). Each should have name and value.
urlstring- Document URL
pandadocmcp_files_request_upload_urlCreate a short-lived upload slot for a PDF or DOCX file.WriteFiles Request Upload Url
Create a short-lived upload slot for a PDF or DOCX file. Upload the file bytes to the returned presigned URL with an HTTP PUT request, then pass file_uuid to documents_create with source set to "file".
Inputs
file_namestringrequired- Original file name, including the .pdf or .docx extension.
content_lengthinteger- Exact size, in bytes, of the file that will be uploaded. When provided, the upload is rejected unless the client sends exactly this many bytes, and the request itself is rejected if this value is negative or 150 MB (157286400 bytes) or larger.
content_typestring- MIME type of the file that will be uploaded, for example application/pdf. When provided, the upload is rejected unless the client sends exactly this value (case-sensitive) in the Content-Type header of the PUT request, and the request itself is rejected if this type is not allowed for the organization.

Inputs
document_idstringrequired- Document UUID
new_contact_idstringrequired- Contact UUID of the new signer.
recipient_idstringrequired- Recipient UUID of the signer to replace.
kindstring- 'contact' or 'contact_group'.one of
contactcontact_groupdefaultcontact
pandadocmcp_templates_approval_workflow_updateCreate or replace the Submit for approval configuration on a template.WriteTemplates Approval Workflow Update
Create or replace the Submit for approval configuration on a template. A template has at most one configuration; this writes the full desired end-state. Conditional approvals are not supported. If the template already has them, the request is rejected and the existing configuration is left unchanged. After this, create a document from the template; `documents_details_get` then shows `approval_execution` to copy into `documents_send`.
Inputs
stepsarrayrequired- Stages in the approval order, at most 50. Each stage is either one approver (`assignee`) or an approval group (`group`), not both. A stage with one approver counts as one approver toward the 100-approver limit. A stage with a group counts as each approver in that group. The property name stays `steps` so it matches `selected_approvers.steps` on Send Document.
template_idstringrequired- Template this Submit for approval configuration is stored on.
is_editing_allowedboolean- Whether the approvers and approval groups can be edited on documents created from this template.default
false is_enabledboolean- Whether Submit for approval runs when a document is created from this template. Set false to turn it off while keeping its stages. This call does not delete the configuration.default
true is_ordering_enabledboolean- Approval order. When true, the document goes to one approver at a time. When false, every approver is requested together.default
true
pandadocmcp_templates_createCreate a new template from a publicly accessible PDF URL with optional name, folder, tokens, and owner.WriteTemplates Create
Create a new template from a publicly accessible PDF URL with optional name, folder, tokens, and owner.
Inputs
urlstringrequired- Secure (HTTPS) and publicly accessible URL to the PDF document
folder_uuidstring- Folder ID where the created template should be stored
metadatastring- Arbitrary key-value data to associate with the template
namestring- The name of the template
owner_emailstring- Owner email for the template
owner_membership_idstring- Owner membership_id for the template
tokensstring- CUSTOM variables as list of {name, value} pairs
pandadocmcp_templates_duplicateCreate a copy of an existing template within the same workspace.WriteTemplates Duplicate
Create a copy of an existing template within the same workspace. Optionally provide a `name` for the copy; when omitted or empty, a name is auto-generated from the source template. Returns the new template's id and name, plus the source template id.
Inputs
template_idstringrequired- ID of the template to duplicate
namestring- Custom name for the copy; when omitted or empty, a name is auto-generated from the source template.
pandadocmcp_templates_updateUpdate an existing template's CUSTOM variables (tokens) and/or its signer roles.WriteTemplates Update
Update an existing template's CUSTOM variables (tokens) and/or its signer roles. Provide `tokens` to upsert variables by name, and/or `roles` to replace the full list of roles. Inspect current roles and variables with `templates_details_get` first. At least one of `tokens` or `roles` must be provided. This tool does not rename a template or edit its content/pages. A newly created template needs a few seconds to finish processing before it can be updated; if an update fails immediately after creation, wait briefly and retry. This returns only a confirmation, not the updated template â to read the UUIDs of any newly created roles, call `templates_details_get` afterwards.
Inputs
template_idstringrequired- Template ID
rolesstring- Replace the full set of template roles in one request: items with an `id` update that role, items without an `id` are created, and existing roles omitted from the list are deleted. Passing an empty list removes every role. This can delete signer roles, so confirm with the user before you replace or remove roles.
tokensstring- CUSTOM variables to upsert, as a list of {name, value} pairs. Must be non-empty when provided. The template's predefined variables are read-only; attempts to change them are ignored.
pandadocmcp_workspace_metadata_fields_listList metadata field definitions in the current workspace.WriteWorkspace Metadata Fields List
List metadata field definitions in the current workspace. Send return_ai_extraction true so system AI extraction fields are included with workspace fields. Send include_extraction_settings true so each field includes is_extraction_enabled, extraction_instructions, and default_extraction_instructions. extraction_instructions is the workspace override when one exists. Use q to match a field key. This tool returns field definitions, not values stored on documents. Copy key exactly when reading metadata for a document.
Inputs
directionstring- No description.one of
ascdescdefaultasc include_extraction_settingsboolean- Populate is_extraction_enabled, extraction_instructions, and default_extraction_instructions. extraction_instructions is the workspace override when one exists. Omit this and those three fields are null.
default
true order_bystring- No description.one of
keycustom_firstextraction_enabled_firstdefaultkey pageinteger- No description.default
1 page_sizeinteger- No description.default
